Week 1

Asian Population Map

This map is showing a census of Asian population of United States in 2000. The map is purposing to show the racial category Asian includes Asian Indians, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and other Asian ethnicities.  Most Asians stayed in West or East sides in United States. Especially, around 45.3 percent of  Asians who lived in California including Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. According to the map, I could see Asians like to live in warm area. Also, many Asians live in the area with highest cost of living.

SAT scores map

This map shows state mean of SAT scores and participation rates. Many high school students prepare SAT exam to go to University. SAT scores and participation rate symbolizes the specific area has better quality of education.. As shown above in Asian population map, SAT participation rates are higher in the area where most Asians live in. Moreover, East side of United States has highest number of SAT scores and participation rates than West or central coast of United States.

Top State Income Tax Rates Map

This map provides each state’s income tax rates in United States in 2012. It is about state tax rates for 2012 by Tax Foundation programmer. California has the highest, 10.3 percent, but that is paid only by people who have income over $1 million. Second highest rate is 9.3 percent is paid by people with more than $48,029 income. The interesting information that I found is some states have no individual state income tax, including Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming.
